At the end of 2024, the Hunan Department of Industry and Information Technology announced that its 8-inch chip production line plans to have an annual production capacity of 20000 pieces per month;
In the first half of 2025, Xiangjiang New Area will introduce 15 on chain supporting enterprises around Hunan Sanan, with a total signing amount of up to 8 billion yuan, covering multiple links such as packaging, testing, equipment, materials, etc;
The phased construction rhythm is clear, starting with the opening of lines and then expanding production. The mid-term goal has been achieved, and the production capacity is expected to continue to climb.
Xiangjiang New Area is becoming another important strategic base for the third-generation semiconductor manufacturing industry in China, following Xiamen and Suzhou.
 
In addition to silicon carbide, Hunan Sanan is also simultaneously promoting the production line of GaN on Si silicon-based gallium nitride, with a current monthly production capacity of 2000 pieces. Gallium nitride has the characteristics of high frequency, high voltage, and high efficiency, making it an ideal material for high power density requirements. It has a strong market demand in areas such as fast charging, power modules, 5G base stations, and motor drives.
Sanan Optoelectronics has constructed a wide bandgap semiconductor material full coverage matrix by simultaneously laying out SiC and GaN. Its technology route covers high-voltage (SiC) and high-frequency (GaN) scenarios, strategically adapting to diverse terminals such as photovoltaics, automotive specifications, and consumer electronics.
The capacity release of Hunan base will form a synergistic effect with other subsidiaries under Sanan:
San'an, Hubei: Focusing on Mini/MicroLED technology;
Suzhou Sko: Focusing on automotive grade power module packaging;
Xiamen headquarters: technology research and development and headquarters management center;
Quanzhou Base: Traditional Optoelectronic Chip Manufacturing;
Through the layout of "nationalization+specialization", Sanan has established a full process manufacturing loop covering the two main industries of LED and power semiconductor, mastering the core chain of "materials → epitaxy → devices → packaging → modules", and achieving independent controllability and cost reduction and efficiency improvement.
The connection of the 8-inch chip production line at San'an Optoelectronics Hunan Base is not only a milestone victory for the enterprise, but also an important footnote to the breakthrough path of domestic silicon carbide. From industrial policy guidance to local government implementation, from technology accumulation to customer collaboration, the domestic wide bandgap semiconductor industry is building its own "Moore's Curve".
