According to the Global Flow Battery Network, recently, another significant piece of good news has emerged in the field of standardization in Dalian! The two international standards for all-vanadium flow batteries, jointly drafted by Dalian Rongke Energy Storage Technology Development Co., Ltd. and the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, have been rigorously reviewed by the International Electrotechnical Commission and approved by multiple countries through voting. They have officially been approved for project establishment. Chinese technology has once again taken the lead in the global long-duration energy storage field.

Two projects are launched simultaneously, filling the international gap

The two standards precisely cover the core aspects of the all-vanadium liquid flow battery, completely resolving the global industry's problem of lacking unified standards. "IEC 63686 General Requirements and Test Methods for All-Vanadium Liquid Flow Battery Stack" focuses on the core "heart" of the battery stack in the energy storage system, establishing global unified technical requirements and testing norms, providing authoritative "measures" for evaluating the performance of the battery stack. "IEC 62932-4-2 Test Methods for All-Vanadium Liquid Flow Battery Electrolyte" fills the gap in international standards for the detection of vanadium electrolyte, standardizing terms, performance and safety requirements, and providing an "international passport" for the industry in international trade.

Collaboration among industry, academia and research, with strong capabilities supporting standard innovation.

Dalian Rongke Energy Storage Technology Development Co., Ltd., as the first "unicorn" enterprise in the city, collaborates with the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to deeply explore the field of energy storage. They have established the world's largest vanadium electrolyte base and intelligent equipment base. Dalian Rongke Energy Storage has a profound technical accumulation and authorized patents in the field of fuel cells, with over 300 domestic and foreign patents, including more than 200 invention patents. It has led the formulation of national standards for flow batteries, industry standards of 12 items, and an international standard; it has also participated in the formulation of national standards for flow batteries, industry standards of over 30 items, and international standards of 3 items. Through the deep integration of industry-university-research cooperation to lay a solid foundation for standards, its innovative achievements ensure that China has complete technical and industrial chain autonomy and controllability in the key area of long-term energy storage.

The approval of two international standards signifies that Dalian has moved from product export to standard export. This initiative will promote the standardized and globalized development of the all-vanadium liquid flow battery industry, strengthen China's independent control over long-duration energy storage technology and the entire industrial chain, and provide Dalian's strength to support national energy security and the "carbon neutrality" strategy.

Next, the municipal market supervision bureau will continue to work closely with enterprises and research institutions to strengthen the strategy of leveraging innovation to gain advantages and setting standards to define the framework. It will support more Dalian enterprises in leading the formulation of international standards, using standards to empower industrial upgrading and contributing to the high-quality development of our city.
