Pulnovo's new generation all-vanadium redox flow battery stack delivered to Zhangbei Wind-Solar-Stor
Release time:2026.08.05 Number of views:21

The equipment was completed and loaded for shipment in the production workshop. In 2012, Puren delivered the first generation all-vanadium liquid flow energy storage system to the Zhangbei National Photovoltaic Storage and Transmission Demonstration Base. This equipment has been operating stably for 12 consecutive years. Due to the long-term exposure to the extremely cold environment of -30℃ in the Zhangjiakou area, the original equipment gradually exhibited problems such as decreased operational efficiency and insufficient scheduling capabilities.

The Gen3 self-developed high-power stack delivered this time is a custom replacement part provided by the original factory. The power of each stack has been increased by 40%, and the overall charging and discharging efficiency of the system has exceeded 78%. It can fully adapt to the high-altitude and cold conditions in the north. At the same time, it is compatible with the original cabinet standard, enabling seamless and rapid replacement, effectively shortening the on-site construction period.

This renovation project is carried out simultaneously with comprehensive upgrades to the electrolyte expansion, low-temperature temperature control system, and EMS energy management platform. The storage duration has been increased from 2 hours to 4 hours, meeting the conditions for applying for long-term storage capacity electricity prices in Hebei Province.

This project is the first overall renovation benchmark project for a megawatt-level all-vanadium liquid flow energy storage station that has been in service for over ten years in China. The delivery of this fuel cell fully demonstrates the technical characteristics of the all-vanadium liquid flow battery, such as long lifespan, iterative capability, and easy modification. It provides a replicable practical solution for the upgrading and transformation of existing energy storage assets across the country, helping to enhance the regional capacity for absorbing wind and solar new energy and ensuring the safe and stable operation of the power grid.
