Key Data: New Energy Storage Targets Set at 300 Million Kilowatts

The "Plan" has set clear quantitative targets for new energy storage: In the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, approximately 160 million kilowatts of new energy storage will be added, and by 2030, the national scale of new energy storage will reach 300 million kilowatts. What is more noteworthy is that the "Plan" has explicitly stated that during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, approximately 80 million kilowatts of grid-side independent new energy storage capable of providing peak load support will be added nationwide, with the equivalent peak duration expected to reach 4 hours; by 2030, this scale will reach 140 million kilowatts. According to the National Energy Administration, the investment scale of key energy projects and new business models in China during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period will exceed 20 trillion yuan.

The hard requirement of a 4-hour equivalent peak duration indicates that the development logic of energy storage has shifted from "scale expansion" in the "14th Five-Year Plan" to "high-quality market-oriented development" in the "15th Five-Year Plan" - energy storage is no longer merely an "optional option" for the integration of new energy, but a "core asset" for ensuring the safe and stable operation of the power grid.

Multi-scenario Implementation: All-Van Liquid Flow Battery Seeks Application Blue Ocean

The "Plan" has opened up diverse application scenarios for new energy storage, which precisely align with the strengths of all-van liquid flow battery storage.

Source-grid-load-storage synergy, building the core hub of the new power system. The "Plan" has explicitly stated that "a number of source-grid-load-storage collaborative intelligent microgrid projects will be laid out and constructed", promoting the nearby consumption of new energy. The all-van liquid flow battery, with its unique advantages such as inherent safety, a cycle life of over 25,000 times, and recyclable electrolyte, has become the preferred technical route for long-term energy storage in source-grid-load-storage integrated projects.

Zero-carbon parks and direct connection to green electricity, opening up commercial long-term energy storage demand. The document requires "supporting regions with large industrial loads and favorable conditions for new energy resources to build zero-carbon parks", and implementing "a number of projects to enhance the adaptability of distribution networks to meet the needs of new business models such as zero-carbon parks and direct connection of green electricity". The all-van liquid flow battery has an energy storage duration of 4-24 hours, which can effectively match the time difference between daytime photovoltaic power generation and nighttime electricity consumption in zero-carbon factories, allowing zero-carbon factories to truly achieve 24-hour green electricity supply.

Multi-scenario deployment of smart microgrids, long-term energy storage indispensable. The "Plan" has deployed the construction of park smart microgrids, end-protective microgrids, and village-level autonomous microgrids. In the microgrid scenario, the safety and long-duration characteristics of the all-van liquid flow battery make it the most reliable energy storage support for off-grid microgrids and weak-grid areas.

Computing power and electricity collaboration, demand for data center energy storage has exploded. The document also proposes "coordinating the electricity demand of computing facilities such as intelligent computing, general computing, and supercomputing with new energy resources, and focusing on laying out a number of computing-electricity collaborative projects in regions where the coordinated development of national computing power and computing electricity is taking place", and requiring "continuously improving the electricity utilization efficiency of computing facilities". Data centers have extremely high requirements for power supply reliability, and the non-flammable and non-explosive nature, as well as the 20-year-plus long lifespan of the all-van liquid flow battery, perfectly meet the long-term energy storage requirements of high safety and long-term cycles of data centers.

The release of the "Plan" marks the formal upgrade of long-term energy storage from a "technical alternative" to a "system necessity". The liquid flow energy storage technology will continue to deepen technological iterations in the field of long-term energy storage, accelerate the pace of industrial scale-up, and contribute long-term storage capacity to the "15th Five-Year Plan" new power system construction.
