Breaking Through: The First Creation from Zero to One
The total installed capacity of new energy storage in Yunnan has exceeded 7.19 million kilowatts, maintaining the top position in the southern region. The installed capacity of new energy across the province has exceeded 81 million kilowatts. On this thriving industrial land, Chu Xiangzhou Jinjiang Energy Group Co., Ltd. takes technology as the driving force, innovation as the impetus, and responsibility as the foundation, writing the development report of Chu Xiangzhou that belongs to itself. Looking back four years ago, the new energy storage field was still a barren land awaiting cultivation. In August 2022, when Jinjiang Energy was established, there was no ready template to follow and no mature experience to refer to. On the track of new energy storage, every step had to be explored and advanced by itself.
On August 28, 2024, the Yongren Zhixin 300MW/600MWh Independent Energy Storage Demonstration Project, jointly invested by Jinjiang Energy and Shenzhen Yuexin, was officially put into operation. This is the first new-type energy storage project in Chuxiong Prefecture and Yunnan Province, turning from a dream into reality. This was not a simple investment decision; rather, it was a powerful declaration made by the state-owned energy enterprise of the prefecture in an adventurous and pioneering manner towards the new energy industry - a breakthrough from zero to one requires not only capital investment but also the courage of a pioneer. After two years of operation, the power station has cumulatively charged 473 million kilowatt-hours and discharged 434 million kilowatt-hours. The charging and discharging conversion efficiency is 91.75%. The operating income far exceeded expectations. This solid and impressive operational data powerfully confirms the enterprise's steady and determined breakthrough and advancement.
Cracking the Code: Frontier Exploration of Long-Term Energy Storage
The successful operation of Yongren's project marked the beginning of a new era for the new energy storage industry in Yunnan. However, Jinjiang Energy Group did not stop at the existing path. In the cutting-edge field of long-duration energy storage, the all-vanadium liquid flow battery is regarded as one of the most promising technical routes due to its outstanding advantages: it uses water-based electrolyte, operates at normal temperature and pressure, has no risk of combustion or explosion, and is inherently safe and reliable; it can undergo more than 16,000 cycles, has a calendar life of ≥ 20 years, and maintains 100% charge and discharge without degradation; the electrolyte can be recycled, the system has high residual value, and has excellent environmental performance. However, in the Southern Power Grid region, there is no precedent for engineering implementation.
Jinjiang Energy Group has resolutely embarked on this path of technological innovation exploration. The 100MW/400MWh all-vanadium liquid flow energy storage project in Luofeng City was completed from commencement to full capacity grid connection in just 232 days. Behind this speed lies the tireless efforts and unwavering dedication of the project team, as well as the integration and development of the owner, construction units, technical experts, and green financial services. The successful operation of the project has enabled the long-duration liquid flow energy storage technology to be implemented in the Southern Power Grid on an engineering scale for the first time, filling the gap in the large-scale application of this technology in the southern region.
Deepening: From project investment to full-chain layout
With the successive completion and operation of energy storage stations, the strategic vision of Jinjiang Energy Group has expanded beyond the mere construction of power stations. If it remains confined to a single project investment level for a long time, the enterprise's industrial foundation will always lack the ability for independent innovation. Only by breaking through the boundaries of a single project and laying out in the upstream of the industrial chain, achieving "chain-like" development, and expanding the level of "resource economy", can the resource advantages be more and better transformed into industrial advantages.
In the Lufeng Qinfeng Chemical Industrial Park, the vanadium electrolyte production line is in full swing of construction. After the first phase is completed, the annual production capacity will reach 5,000 cubic meters, completely filling the production gap of vanadium electrolyte in Chuxiong Prefecture and even the entire Yunnan Province. Relying on the raw material advantages of vanadium dioxide, hydrochloric acid, and sulfuric acid in the park, a complete chain closed-loop of "raw materials - production - support" will be established. In Yongren Industrial Park, the 500MW/2GWh all-vanadium liquid flow energy storage system integration production line is operating at full capacity. Every day, 72 standard battery packs and 3 sets of energy storage system integration can be produced - less than 500 meters away from the construction site of the 300MW/1200MWh all-vanadium liquid flow energy storage power station, production and construction are side by side and advancing simultaneously. This is in line with the strategic concept of the prefecture committee and government of "deep integration of green energy and advanced equipment manufacturing", promoting industrial upgrading and transformation, and achieving the goals of extending the chain, supplementing the chain, and strengthening the chain.
From "key materials" to "core components" and then to "complete sets of equipment", from photovoltaic power generation to energy storage stations and then to the manufacturing of energy storage equipment - this is not a simple accumulation of projects; it is the effective practice of the synergy between the supply chain and the industrial chain and the "massive focus on industries and aggressive pursuit of industry" strategy. It is the transformation of industrial upgrading. Yongren is moving from "selling sunlight" to "manufacturing equipment", and Chuxiong is moving from "resource advantages" to "industrial advantages". And Jinjiang Energy Group is the driving force behind this transformation. And the direction of this forward march is not merely the temporary achievements at hand, but rather a broader horizon and a more promising future.
The 200MW/800MWh independent shared grid-connected all-vanadium liquid flow energy storage power station in Shuangbai County has been included in the list of new shared energy storage projects in Yunnan Province for 2026. It adopts the grid-connected technology route and possesses advanced capabilities such as actively establishing voltage and frequency support, virtual inertia and damping support, and black start. It is suitable for the grid connection requirements of the high proportion of wind and solar energy in Chuxiong. After the completion of Yongren's 300MW/1200MWh all-vanadium liquid flow energy storage power station, it will become the largest all-vanadium liquid flow energy storage power station in the country. The new project is still in progress, new technologies are still being explored, and new industrial collaboration is still being upgraded.
